Well despite the driving rain there was a good turn out of willing diggers and yes we are certain we have the bases of two big kilns. So now we have confirmed this we are now going for funding to excavate the site properly in September 2010.
Hi Dan
Thanks for the welcome. I am just off to dig a lost 18th century Scottish pottery brrrr.. its a cold Scottish morning but its the only time of the year the farmer has no crop in his field.
Cheers

Dan,
I work at the Hudson Meng Education and Research Center in Crawford NE. Hudson Meng is an Alberta Culture find in association with Bison antiquus remains. Dr. Larry Agenbroad was the first researcher from 1971-1977. Currently, we are having a free weekend here the weekend of July 18. We are under the direction and management of the US Forest Service and the Supervisor's Office in Chadron NE is where the Forest Archaeologist has her office. I was hoping you would let everyone on the site know of our free weekend, and we also have primitive skills workshops every Saturday afternoon. This coming Saturday, flintknapper Larry Waldron of Chadron NE will be demonstrating at our information booth at Chadron's Fur Trade Days. Thanks for reading. I have enjoyed being a member here the past year. Interesting and intellectually stimulating at the same time.
Thank you, Dan, for your kind comment! The experience was indeed incredible. I'm at that stage of my life when I am learning, learning...and learning some more, therefore I am extremely grateful (and humbled by) the opportunities I am being given.
Like others have posted, I don't mind things being sold on the website, but I would prefer that items were advertised in a forum made for that purpose, rather than being spammed by personal messages like the one that "Jose" sent out.
That's what I thought. But I can't find any tab like that. I found the "settings" tab much there's nothing for the background. Oh well, it's not a big issue. Thanks for you reply though!
Dan - Perhaps because I am a little less tech savvy, I disagree with the previous posts - I don't have a problem with the occasional offering. I concur with your sentiments, and the rules seem appropriate. It surprised me to get the request, but when I saw the items for sale, they fit with the general tenor of the site, and I saw no harm. The only caveat that I would offer is that YOU should receive something for such a use of your site - the people offering stuff for sale on the site that you developed should not do so for free.
Hi Dan, I think the practice of advertising through comments on profile pages really shouldn't be allowed at all. It tends to spiral out of control if it's tolerated; spam is never fun.
However, i can't see an issue with having a forum for archaeology related classifieds, or a group specifically for that sort of thing. Of course we all need access to books, tools, and other resources, but I don't think any of us would want to have to wade through adverts to read the interesting parts of someone's profile.
But if we are allowed to advertise....does anyone want to buy a volvo?! :P
Dan,I am against the use of this site for targeted Sales of any kind. Who knows that
this may merely be a scam. Where they get your Money and you get Nothing!!!!

Dan, might I ask if you know whether a regular electrical cord/jack (i.e. 3 prong or 2 prong) is workable at most camping grounds or would I need an adapter (i.e. 12 volt, etc)? I meant to ask the grounds when I booked, but I thought I might ask you. Thanks.
Hi Dan, The date given by Societe jerseyaise (island heritage organisation) is ca, 4000BCE. Thanks for your idea on black marks but I am not there to do it so I'll ask the people over there. There are twelve dolmen sites on Jersey. Anyone who wants further information about archaeology there should contact www.jerseyheritagetrust.org or www.prehistoricjersey.net.
By the way the language on Jersey is English but most street names etc are in jerseyais (normanfrench). I hope to send my fresco photo tomorrow.

Hi Dan, thanks for setting it up!
The photo is of Silbury Hill in Wiltshire, UK. It's a 40 metre tall man-made chalk mound of Late Neolithic date (the radiocarbon date on an antler fragment from a secure context inside the mound puts its construction somewhere around 2490-2340 BC). Wiltshire is full of amazing prehistoric alterations to the landscape - the stone circles at Avebury are only about 5 kms away, and Stonehenge is not much farther than that, plus there are numerous smaller barrows, but I like that Silbury is such an enigmatic giant.

Say, maybe you join us at Bethsaida next summer!
