A business network for archaeologists
Its been a while.....
hey everyone...
Its been a while since ive been on here, and my goodness its grown!, Looking forward to making some new friends!
Just a quick blog to let u all know how im gettin on at uni. Which to be honest im a little dissapionted with the course. I expected there to be more of an emphasis on actual archaeology and excavation, but so far all we've really done is the history of archaeology, which i apprieciate is a very importent componant of building an education in archaeology. Although im slightly disheartend by the lack of dedication of my fellow students.
The students in my year at uni, are mostly taking this course due to clearing, and that they once liked dinosours when they where 5.....Most frustrating! However i can take solice in the fact that at least the mature....well..."mature" students seem to be taking this course serisouly.
Still whats most dissapionting about this semester, is the loss of the university's archaeological unit, UMAU, which will be closing very shortly. I hope everyone there will be able to find other employement as archaeologists, their all fantastic and a brilliantly dedicated team.
As a Student, i have to admit im more then a little worried about what type of employment oppotunitys will be available once i graduate in 2 years time.
hmmm.........im sure this so called "recession" will eventually recede! lol!!!
