PROPOSED SESSION FOR ASEMNE CONFERENCE (29 April-1 May 2010) http://www.cyi.ac.cy/system/files/First_call_for_papers.pdf

Island Zooarchaeology

This session invites papers focused on zooarchaeology of island communities in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Near East. Living on an island imposes restrictions on local human... ecology and social groups, whether foragers living in upland caves or pastoralists living in lowland villages, must cope with the unique condition of being cut off from mainland resources. The session invites papers from all time periods spanning prehistory to modern day, and seeks to illuminate patterns of human adaptation, particularly in subsistence strategies, in response to constrained local environments. Papers using analytical methods such as molecular analyses as well as biogeographic approaches are encouraged.

Hey Suzanne! I'm glad you are into taphonomy and zooarch - Rob's the best and Mindy seems great, I haven't had that much contact with her myself but I think her work is totally top notch. Domestication seems like a really interesting area to go into, and working with Mindy I'm sure was a great experience. It is funny that we haven't met yet (I look forward to it sometime), yes I was in the field all summer (wallowing in fossil hippo footprints, ha). Are you thinking about grad schools at the moment?

Hi Suzanne,

Looks like we have a Zooarchaeology chain reaction going on the site. Welcome to ArchaeologyNet! Is there any particular aspect of Zooarchaeology that has your focus?
