I guess I did not have my comment notification set properly, but I see you were kind enough to leave me a comment last June while I was out in the field and I just found it tonight! Please forgive me, I am duly ashamed! Anyway, I am glad to hear of your experience with professors covering Syro-Palestine and I hope my ineptitude will not militate against that in any way. To answer your question, I was attracted to the region in the midst of a shift in my academic trajectory in ANE textual studies. How about you? What got you interested in the trade routes of Late Antiquity?
