A very interesting video, David. I have been thinking of joining this project, along with the Bethsaida excavations, for some time now. I look forward to everything you can share with us about this project........

About Me:
I am a senior human resources specialist by profession but I am also an avocational archaeologist and I have participated in a number of excavations and archaeology-related activities over the years, including an excavation season at the site of Bethsaida in Israel and many hours of volunteer work at George Washington's Mount Vernon estate in Virginia. I studied anthropology and archaeology during my undergraduate years at Brigham Young University. I administer an information blog about archaeology, focusing on archaeological excavation opportunities and job openings. I am excited to be a part of this network.

Job Opportunity with Kanasas Historical Society

The Kansas Historical Society (KSHS) has an opening for an archeologist to carry out cultural resources management work. A series of contracts with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) require that we hire an archeologist to serve the day-to-day needs of KDOT and the NRCS, which includes consultation on proposed projects and fieldwork associated with some projects.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

Field School/Internship Opportunity Announcement

The Department of Anthropology, University of North Dakota, invites students to attend its Archaeological Field School in May and June, 2009. The 6-week course is being offered in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service, the National Park Service, and the USDI Bureau of Reclamation. The first 2-3 weeks of the field school will involve survey work at the Elkhorn/Ebert Ranch in the western North Dakota Badlands, where Theodore Roosevelt had a cattle operation in the 1880s. Blog Posts: "Field School" and "On Being an Education Officer"

A blog post is a great way to share information about personal archaeology-related experiences and to provide information and advice that is useful to our members on this site. Everyone is encouraged to post. Thank you, Dean Macholl and Emma Oxenby Wohlfart for your recent posts ("Field School" and "On Being an Education Officer"). These are the types of posts that make this site worthwhile!

The Archaeology Channel International Film and Video Festival

For all who may be interested, I am posting the following announcement on behalf of Dr. Richard M. Pettigrew of the Archaeological Legacy Institute. This event looks extremely interesting, and for those of us who cannot attend, the short video clips of the featured films on The Archaeology Channel website should prove fascinating:

Friends and colleagues: The fifth annual installment of The Archaeology
Channel International Film and Video Festival will take place May
20-24, 2008. This event, whi… Continue

Dan,
I work at the Hudson Meng Education and Research Center in Crawford NE. Hudson Meng is an Alberta Culture find in association with Bison antiquus remains. Dr. Larry Agenbroad was the first researcher from 1971-1977. Currently, we are having a free weekend here the weekend of July 18. We are under the direction and management of the US Forest Service and the Supervisor's Office in Chadron NE is where the Forest Archaeologist has her office. I was hoping you would let everyone on the site know of our free weekend, and we also have primitive skills workshops every Saturday afternoon. This coming Saturday, flintknapper Larry Waldron of Chadron NE will be demonstrating at our information booth at Chadron's Fur Trade Days. Thanks for reading. I have enjoyed being a member here the past year. Interesting and intellectually stimulating at the same time.

I have to correct myself, Dan. The date of my Bethsaida session will be June 13, 2010, not June 6th as previously announced.

Thank you, Dan, for your kind comment! The experience was indeed incredible. I'm at that stage of my life when I am learning, learning...and learning some more, therefore I am extremely grateful (and humbled by) the opportunities I am being given.

Say, maybe you join us at Bethsaida next summer!

Dan,

Like others have posted, I don't mind things being sold on the website, but I would prefer that items were advertised in a forum made for that purpose, rather than being spammed by personal messages like the one that "Jose" sent out.

That's what I thought. But I can't find any tab like that. I found the "settings" tab much there's nothing for the background. Oh well, it's not a big issue. Thanks for you reply though!

HI! Sorry I haven't been on much. But I've forgotten how to edit my page background!! Could you tell me how to do that?

Dan - Perhaps because I am a little less tech savvy, I disagree with the previous posts - I don't have a problem with the occasional offering. I concur with your sentiments, and the rules seem appropriate. It surprised me to get the request, but when I saw the items for sale, they fit with the general tenor of the site, and I saw no harm. The only caveat that I would offer is that YOU should receive something for such a use of your site - the people offering stuff for sale on the site that you developed should not do so for free.
