What would you say to the possibility of mammoth remains in association with a possible Folsom time period quarry site and knapping center? I will have more on this for you in the future, but think about it.

Thought you might be interested in this little tidbit I have come across... it should be in your messages I hope (you probably have it, but hey, here it is). Also, there is a link to our FS website for Hudson Meng this summer on my latest blog post.

I am not sure of the mileage, but constant watersources within a mile are abundant, at least back in time. Also, scrub and trees are relatively new here, and I know that being between the trees and a constant water source was important.

My cousin's up in Paradise say that local legend says their land was once a semi permanent hunting camp before the white man came. It lines up with your area pretty well, as well as a string of sites from Bluefish Cave in Alaska to the Gulf...migratory patter in the ice free corridor for 1000 Alex

Wow!

Sounds like she's having a blast!

You know, you might just email Tom Dillehay or Mike Collins. Both have worked on Monte Verde for 20 years plus:

No...but my daughter -- who enters Tennessee this fall as an archaeology grad student -- is doing an Outward Bound course out of Bariloche, Argentina, in December and is determined to head due west afterwards to see Monte Verde. I'm tryin to find people who have been there or worked there to (1) answer my motherly trepedations, and (2) get any logistical/safety/contacts information that would help her planning.

She's worked at Topper the past two summers and returns there this year, helping manage new digging at the productive main pit.

No, didn't get sprayed. We found this shot online when my daughter was looking for the best way to get skunk stink off her dog!!!! I couldn't resist, had to get it and print it out and hang it on her door. Boy, was she mad at me! I am soooooo mean.
How many hours by car to Buttermilk and Gault from Ft. Worth? If I get the chance this fall, my daughter wants to go to Texas and meet her cousins there (she met them, like, six years ago but apparently that doesn't count) and I figured I would get some fun in for myself since I have to go to Six Flags and watch everyone else have fun. Hope you are having a good spring so far.
