Sorry i am a bit slow, i have a good excuse though i just been on vacation.

About the MA, in my department you can choose when you go on the masters program to study Pre- historic-, historic-, Byzantine/ Roman- or islamic archaeology. You can't get a degree in CRM in denmark, unfortunately, because if i could i would probably go for that one. I do dream of getting paid one day :)

You are lucky being able to dig in that region, where have you been digging ??

Yeah the chalcolithic period is extremly interesting, but the material is not very thorough, for instances i tried last semester to decipher excavation reports done at tuleilat ghassul which took so much of my time that i'm not eager to go back!!!
hmm the neolithic period, well it is mostly because it is the one period in near eastern archaeology where you have tons of archaeological remains. i mean, when going into historic times you spend way to much time reading letters and administrative text, and the archaeological record kind of gets lost in the process.

A just did a semester on Cultural Heritage Management, which was very intriguing, so i definitely understand that, and also it is where the jobs are.

Where do you excavate in Israel??

that sounds really interesting, which period??; im going on a dig in italy in august, it is a fifth century roman village.
I am probably doing my paper on the PPNA/ PNNB period or the Natufian culture in the Levant; i can't really decide because there so much material, and it is all really interesting!!

Do you study classical archaeology?

That's good thinking. You're right, CRM is where most of the jobs are.

Yea, I'm finishing my BA this year in Israel, and hoping to start my MA next year. I'm not sure where though. It might be here in Israel or somewhere in the US ( probably on the east coast). I think getting into CRM is my best option to actually getting a job in archaeology and later, on a PhD level getting into something that have an interest to me, central Asia archaeology.

Alexey,

Welcome to the network! Are you studying archaeology or a related subject at Ben-Gurion?
Assuming you are in Israel, will you be going on for your MA in CRM there or somewhere else?

I hope you don't mind me asking questions. I just have an interest in people and what they're doing, especially where it relates to archaeology!
