So, what are everyone's different interests in the study of man's oldest pastime?

Mine are pretty varied, but I think I enjoy studying the tactics of the battle medium the most. Individual captains' style. The fluid nature of the contact. Right now, watching Alexander in a motel room, I am getting a whole new appreciation for the army that Phillip and Alexander built.
