Archaeology of Death

Information

Archaeology of Death

I am very interested in the archaeology of death; meaning burial and the ritual surrounding it also in human Osteology. I Would be really interested to hear from people from other countries and the burial rituals of all archaeological periods.

wow thats awsome!! yea its just finding the resources necesary would be like nigh on impossible around where id be building it!! Ireland has very very little forest cover and i would need loads of sally rods (hazel saplings) for the wattling. i just dont think i could find enough!!!
might have to settle for making a Fulacht Fiadh (Irish bronze age water heating sites) and trying to cook a joint of meat..... and make beer in it LOL!!

You should build it and see what it is like.

I know people here in Canada that build large Mongolian huts in the summer and live in them.

It allows you to guess about the people.

Who they were, what they we like, what they thought about.
In away you learn more about them because you have to think about them on a human level, what they were as people.

Sure I love the mystery of Egypt, and Greeks and Romans rule when it comes to War and Conquest. But we know what they were like, what they said and thought.

But we know very little about the prehistoric people. To want to know how they lived their lives is Archaeology, to want to know what they were like as a person is human.

there is something about prehistoric archaeology that makes it all
worth-whill, to me it's the fact that we know little to none about the people who lived in that time, and yet we learn so much

Neolithic..yea...i much prefer the study of prehistoric archaeological periods!!! here in Ireland Neolithic is probably one of the most studied periods, becaues most of the megalithic structures in the country are Neolithic, so theres been alot of study in that area!

I grew up with it

My mother studied Classics at University and when she couldn't find a sitter I would have to join her in class it was fun for me.

But I would say the Neolithic era is my favorite the "Neolithic Heads" they found in Jericho are what got me interested in Archaeology.
