A business network for archaeologists

Hi all
I was wondering how organisations you've excavated with (whether commercial contractors, amateur/ volunteer societies, or university research projects) communicate their results. Are they usually published in specialist or local journals, or only if its something really special? Is there much outreach to the local community while a site is ongoing (open days? blogging), or does a fear of looting preclude tht kind of thing?

Checking on the usual sites online is always a place to start. Shovelbums gets a lot of good postings. The PIT program that is administered by the US Forest Service is always a good program. This summer I excavated with a couple that had logged 4,000 excavation hours through the pit program. If you are interested in something specific, look it up. Find out who is currently doing research there, and email the project coordinator asking if they need volunteers. Digs always need volunteers, and the experience working with different people makes your skills better.
